Professor Shi Cheng attended a symposium The Perspective of Global History and Studies on Macau History from March 21 to 22, 2010. This symposium was held by Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was one of commemorative activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of founding of MUST, and was an academic activity of a research project A Study on Macau's Historical Status, Practical Significance and the Unique Role in the Globalization and East-West Cultural Exchange. MUST undertook the project with the department of history, Peking University and the department of history, Sun Yat-Sen University. This project was directed by professor Qian Chendan (department of history, Peking university), funded by Macao Foundation and contained 13 sub-project. At present, everything goes well.
There were about 30 experts, from Peking University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Macau University , MUST, Capital Normal University, Taiwan National Cheng Kung University and Rowan University(one Chinese-American scholar from Rowan University), attended the Symposium. Leaders of Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau, Macau Foundation and MUST address the conference. The conferees submitted 29 research papers. These research papers focused on two points: the theory of global history and the studies on Macau History. Professor Shi read Professor Liu Xincheng’s research paper Interaction: The core idea of the global history and drew enormous attention of conferees.
