【From GHC】Researchers of GHC Visited GHCC, Warwick University



    On November 29th, researchers of GHC were invited to a formal visit to Global History and Culture Centre (GHCC) at the University of Warwick. This networking activity conducted in the form of academic workshop was also joined by Prof. Maxine Berg, the founder of GHCC and Prof. Anne Gerritsen, the current Director, and several members, postdocs and postgraduate students from GHCC.

    Established in 2007, GHCC forms an important part of the Department of History and the wider University. In the past decade, GHCC has been internationally recognized for its studies over material culture, commodities trading in early modern era and colonialism and post-colonialism in Asia, Africa and America.

    Prof. Anne Gerritsen started the workshop with a heart-felt welcome and greeting, this event will re-new and strengthen the relationship between the two centers. Prof. Maxine Berg recalled her visit to GHC in 2005 and gave a brief introduction of the current research projects at GHCC which were thought provoking. Mr. Liu Xu and Chen Qiang presented 12 issues of Global History Review as a gift to GHCC and briefed  on research topics at GHC. The workshop was culminated in free talks between the members from both centers.

    Being warmly invited and received by GHCC at Warwick, members of GHC have finished their first official visit to this partner institution and laid a solid foundation for the fututre in-depth cooperation between GHC and GHCC.
