Published in Journal of Capital Normal University, Vol.3, 2006, pp.1-5.

Abstract: This article focuses on the differences between World history and Global history. After comparing the two items by etymology of the
words, their historical backgrounds and their outcomes of research, it is clear that their similarities are less than their differences. This can be seen in their object of study, standpoints of investigation, methods of research, concepts of historical research and so on. The author points out that Global History shouldn’t be seen the same as World History. On the contrary, from the point of view of the development of the disciplines, Global History should be seen as a new branch of historiography.

Keywords: world history, global history , historiography
